The South Lafourche Tarpons will head out on the road to take on the E.D. White Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
On Wednesday, South Lafourche came up short against John Ehret and fell 9-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Tarpons in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost five in a row.
Karmyn Callais made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Kiger, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when E.D. White duked it out with Morgan City on Tuesday. E.D. White's pitcher stepped up to hand Morgan City a 15-0 shutout. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cardinals yet this season.
Shelbee Gros made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, E.D. White got a massive performance out of Caroline Howell, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Kayden Landry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
E.D. White was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
E.D. White now has a winning record of 7-6. As for South Lafourche, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Lafourche hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like E.D. White struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Lafourche couldn't quite get it done against E.D. White when the teams last played back in March of 2019 as they fell 7-4. Can South Lafourche avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
