Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Raines to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tadarius Washington, who rushed for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. That's the most rushing yards Washington has posted since back in September. Timothy Cole was another key passer, throwing for 119 yards and three TDs on only ten passes.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Raines proved: they limited West Florida to a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Johdeem Jones for the heroic effort on defense: he. Raines didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 15.3.
Raines' defense didn't let Xavier Finley, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Troy Butler with two. Another thorn in West Florida's side was Jones, who forced one fumble and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Bishop Kenny didn't have too much trouble with Godby on Friday as they won 55-37. The Crusaders pushed the score to 42-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars cut but never quite recovered from.
Bishop Kenny had a senior duo take command as James Davis III picked up 127 receiving yards and a pair of scores and Gavin Hawkins threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes. Davis III's longest reception was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.
Raines' win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Bishop Kenny, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Raines has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 153.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bishop Kenny struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 164.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Raines against Bishop Kenny in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 44-15 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Crusaders' Jp Donovan, who picked up 87 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Vikings to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
