Basketball Recap: Biloxi Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Biloxi had won three straight on the road, but on Saturday they bumped up to 6-1 to make it four. They walked away with a 44-36 victory over the Laurel Golden Tornadoes. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly eight points.

Zaniya Johnson was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Jayla Carriere was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Laurel fell to 5-1. The contest marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Laurel's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracelyn Carmichael, who posted 12 points. Carmichael has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kayllis Walker, who scored eight points and three blocks.

Looking ahead, Biloxi will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Booker T. Washington at 5:00 p.m. As for Laurel, they will venture away from home to challenge Northeast Jones at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
