Baseball Recap: McClave Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Otis, McClave was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Stratton Eagles by a score of 7-3. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Kielan Mallard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Steinbrunn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Horn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

McClave's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Stratton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: McClave beat the Eagles by a score of 7-4 later that day.
