Softball Game Preview: Shamokin Area Indians vs. Montoursville Warriors

The Shamokin Area Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Montoursville Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Shamokin Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Shamokin Area made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Central Columbia, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Indians fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Indians have suffered since April 15th.

ELIZABETH NYE made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. AUTUMN KEHLER was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Montoursville made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bloomsburg on Thursday. The Warriors never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

Montoursville's victory bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Shamokin Area, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Shamokin Area came out on top in a nail-biter against Montoursville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
