Baseball Game Preview: North Smithfield Northmen vs. Tolman Tigers

The North Smithfield Northmen will venture away from home to take on the Tolman Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Smithfield hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

North Smithfield fell victim to Juanita Sanchez Complex and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 1-0.

Tyler Albino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Tolman got themselves on the board against Classical on Monday, but Classical never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Purple with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for Tolman and bumps their season record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for North Smithfield, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

North Smithfield skirted past Tolman 8-7 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Northmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
