Baseball Recap: Southampton Takes a Loss

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Southampton's offense. They lost 6-0 to the Pierson Whalers on Wednesday. The Mariners just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Southampton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Costa-Helmsteadt, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Costa-Helmsteadt hit this season.

Southampton's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Pierson, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southampton will welcome Port Jefferson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mariners are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pierson, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against John Glenn at 2:00 p.m.
