Baseball Game Preview: Huron River Rats vs. Skyline Eagles

For the first time this season, Huron will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Skyline Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Huron took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Dexter by a score of 6-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jon Boerst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Pinsky, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season. Daniel Feltner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Skyline posted their closest victory since May 6, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Lincoln 3-1.

Skyline's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2. As for Huron, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Huron couldn't quite get it done against Skyline in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the River Rats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
