Preview: Mount Notre Dame vs. Ursuline Academy Lions
Mount Notre Dame is 10-0 against Ursuline Academy since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Mount Notre Dame will head out on the road to face off against the Ursuline Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Mount Notre Dame is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ursuline Academy in Ohio (Mount Notre Dame is ranked eighth, while Ursuline Academy is ranked 424th).
Mount Notre Dame unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mason. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mount Notre Dame in their matchups with Mason: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Mount Notre Dame saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Laila Harrison, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kailee Bransford, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ursuline Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 33-29 to Mercy McAuley. Ursuline Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mount Notre Dame's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3. As for Ursuline Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Mount Notre Dame against Ursuline Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 61-17 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount Notre Dame since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
