Basketball Recap: Jackson North Side Takes a Loss

Jackson North Side was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were dealt a 71-17 loss at the hands of the Jackson South Side Hawks. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-6.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Kenya Johnson and Jada Vandiver, who each put up four points. Trinity Davis held things down on the boards with three rebounds. Madyson Person took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Jackson South Side's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaidynn Askins, who posted ten points in addition to six assists and six steals. Askins has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Mikayla Newble was another key player, going 7 of 12 en route to 18 points and seven boards.

Jackson North Side's defeat dropped their record down to 3-22. As for Jackson South Side, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 20-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson North Side has already played their next matchup (against McNairy Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jackson South Side will be playing at home against Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson South Side is on a six-game streak of home wins, Lexington a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
