Volleyball Recap: Monte Vista's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Monte Vista had already won eight in a row and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They came out on top against the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats by a score of 2-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.

Kennedy Whyte paced Monte Vista's offense, picking up 15 kills. Whyte got some help from Diya Mathew and her 20 assists. Whyte was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Despite the defeat, St. Ignatius College Preparatory had strong showings from Valerie Chu, who had 15 assists and four digs, and Lauren Nip, who had ten digs. Chu is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Monte Vista's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight matches and leaves them with a 17-7 record.

Coincidentally, Monte Vista and St. Ignatius College Preparatory will both be playing Folsom the next time they take the court. The Wildcats will head out to face the Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
