Baseball Game Preview: Cleburne County Tigers vs. Woodland Bobcats

Cleburne County is a perfect 8-0 against Woodland since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Cleburne County Tigers take on Woodland Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Cleburne County's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Woodland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cleburne County fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Ranburne on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-3 to the Bulldogs. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bulldogs since on Tuesday.

Jacob Pentecost was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aiden Laminack made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Cade Shubert also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Woodland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Mt. Zion. One positive for the Bobcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Woodland's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Cleburne County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Everything went Cleburne County's way against Woodland in their previous matchup back in February, as Cleburne County made off with a 12-1 win. Will Cleburne County repeat their success, or does Woodland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
