Softball Game Preview: Lee Williams Volunteers vs. Prescott Badgers

For the second straight game, Lee Williams will face off against Prescott. The Volunteers will head out to face off against the Badgers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lee Williams is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Lee Williams took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Prescott 14-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Volunteers considering their two-run performance the match before.

Aivree Austin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sami Marshall, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooke Bills, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Lee Williams was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive contests.

With the victory, Lee Williams broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12. As for Prescott, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
