The Lake Country Lutheran Lightning will head out to square off against the Luther Prep Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Country Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Lake Country Lutheran came out on top against Deerfield on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Lightning put the hurt on the Demons with a sharp 9-3 victory. Nine seems to be a good number for the Lightning as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Christian Johann, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Manthei, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Luther Prep waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Hilltoppers as they made off with an 11-1 victory.
Reid Martin looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Luther Prep is 2-1 when Martin allows one or fewer hits, but 5-12 otherwise.
At the plate, Luther Prep got a massive performance out of Danny Taylor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Taylor is becoming a predictor of the Phoenix's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Micah Schultz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Lake Country Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Luther Prep, they pushed their record up to 7-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Luther Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lake Country Lutheran has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. It's a different story for Luther Prep, though, as they've only averaged .363. Will they be able to contain Lake Country Lutheran's hitters?
Lake Country Lutheran took their win against Luther Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
