Volleyball Recap: North Stokes Vikings vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles
North Stokes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Surry Central Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.
Surry Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mallie Southern led the charge by getting seven kills, six aces, and two blocks. Those six aces gave Southern a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caroline Scott, who had nine digs and four aces.
North Stokes' loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Surry Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
North Stokes will take on Bishop McGuinness at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Surry Central, they will face off against Forbush at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
