Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Middle Tennessee Christian last Friday, Grace Christian Academy came back down to earth. The game between the Grace Christian Academy Lions and The Webb School Feet didn't end well, with the Grace Christian Academy Lions falling 70-56. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Feet are ranked 38th).

When it comes to explaining why Grace Christian Academy lost on Tuesday, don't look at Ty Gibbs. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Gibbs is becoming a predictor of Grace Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is 3-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't). Ford Deshazo was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

The Webb School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joel Wyatt led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Wyatt is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kipras Redeckas, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 20 points and six rebounds.

Grace Christian Academy dropped their record down to 10-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for The Webb School, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Grace Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Webb School, they will square off against Battle Ground Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Battle Ground Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
