Harbor Light Christian is a perfect 4-0 against Boyne Falls since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Swordsmen will square off against the Loggers at 9:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Harbor Light Christian has 15 straight wins, Boyne Falls has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Harbor Light Christian got the win against Traverse City Christian by a conclusive 13-2. Considering the Swordsmen have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Daniel Urman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ayden Burns, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Vaughn Henagan, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Harbor Light Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Traverse City Christian only posted an OBP of .391.
Boyne Falls couldn't beat North Michigan Christian Academy on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Loggers took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comets.
Carter Babcock made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those runs were his first of the season.
Harbor Light Christian pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Boyne Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Boyne Falls' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Harbor Light Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .417. It's a different story for Boyne Falls, though, as they've only averaged .200. Will they be able to contain Harbor Light Christian's hitters?
Harbor Light Christian took their victory against Boyne Falls in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 19-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Swordsmen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
