Baseball Preview: Lafayette Rams vs. New Kent Trojans
Lafayette and New Kent are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Lafayette Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the New Kent Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lafayette will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Lafayette scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Bruton a 17-0 shutout. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Austen Townsend was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). The victory got Lafayette back to even at 4-4. As for New Kent, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
