Baseball Recap: Davenport Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Davenport had no problem doing just that on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Celebration Storm 13-11. 13 seems to be a good number for the Broncos as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Brylandd Canode was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Davenport is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-17 otherwise. Luis Escalera was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.

Canode wasn't the only one making solid contact: Davenport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Broncos are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Davenport and bumps their season record up to 9-17. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Celebration, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Coming up, Davenport will challenge George Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Broncos' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Celebration does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
