Softball Recap: LAMP Comes Up Short

LAMP lost against Greenville back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The LAMP Golden Tigers fell just short of the Greenville Tigers by a score of 5-4.

Caroline Russell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those stolen bases marked the first that she's stolen this season.

In other batting news, Alice Vickers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

LAMP now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Greenville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Coming up, LAMP will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Brewbaker Tech on Tuesday. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. McKenzie will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
