Baseball Recap: Good Samaritan Homeschool Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Good Samaritan HomeSchool had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool on Tuesday. Good Samaritan HomeSchool was the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool. The Hornets haven't had any issues with Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

CJ Self was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Self was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Good Samaritan HomeSchool: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Eshton Pedraza was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Good Samaritan HomeSchool's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Dawson Turpin, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.
