Preview: Burney Raiders vs. Big Valley Cardinals
The Burney Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Big Valley Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Burney is ranked 51st, while Big Valley is ranked 38th).
After a string of three wins, Burney's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Tulelake on the road and fell 56-18.
Despite the defeat, Burney got a solid performance out of Kyle Noah, who threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Meanwhile, Big Valley stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-6 win over Westwood on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Big Valley who now have three in a row.
Burney now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Big Valley, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Burney couldn't quite finish off Big Valley when the teams last played back in August and fell 24-22. Can Burney avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
