Basketball Recap: South Webster Falls Despite Big Games from Angel Stacey and Addi Claxon

South Webster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They took a 45-26 bruising from the Portsmouth West Senators. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jeeps this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-33 back in January.

South Webster's loss came despite strong showings from Addi Claxon and Angel Stacey. Claxon posted 14 points, while Stacey put up six points. Claxon has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 27 times she's played.

South Webster's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Portsmouth West, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-8.

South Webster and Portsmouth West could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. South Webster will square off against Minford at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday down 609 places (691 vs. 82). Similarly, Portsmouth West (ranked 289th) will meet Wheelersburg (ranked 117th) on Thursday.
