Preview: Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans vs. North Eagles
Two dominant players in James Bosket and Stetson Stacks are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Ridge Spring-Monetta sitting on three straight victories and the Eagles on ten.
Ridge Spring-Monetta scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 75-55 margin over Wagener-Salley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Ridge Spring-Monetta can attribute much of their success to Bosket, who scored 25 points along with five steals, and Tavin Rodney, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 20 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Rodney scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Briston Matthews, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Even though North has not done well against the Vikings recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. North walked away with an 86-79 win over the Vikings. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stacks led the charge by scoring 31 points along with three steals. Stacks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ashton Jamison, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Ridge Spring-Monetta's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for North, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home.
Ridge Spring-Monetta was dealt a bruising 73-36 loss at the hands of the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stacks, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Now that Ridge Spring-Monetta knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
