Softball Recap: Century Takes a Loss

Century was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 10-3 to the Harrisburg Bulldogs. The contest marked the Centurions' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Allie Sauerbrunn and Hayden Anderson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sauerbrunn went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Anderson scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in doubles (two). Jaylee Vanmeter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Century's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Harrisburg, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Century will venture away from home to challenge Shawnee at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Century their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Harrisburg, they will challenge DuQuoin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. DuQuoin has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.2 runs per game on average), something Harrisburg will no doubt try to take advantage of.
