Softball Game Preview: Normandy Invaders vs. Elyria Pioneers

For the second straight game, Normandy will face off against Elyria. The Invaders will venture away from home to challenge the Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Normandy heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Tuesday. They fell just short of Elyria by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Invaders couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Elyria's part, Braylee Beckham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 20 Ks. Beckham has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camille Dunlap, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

Normandy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Elyria, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-9.
