Baseball Game Preview: Nativity BVM Green Wave vs. Panther Valley Panthers

The Nativity BVM Green Wave will head out to challenge the Panther Valley Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nativity BVM has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Nativity BVM managed to slip by Shenandoah Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Green Wave lost 11-1 to the Blue Devils on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Green Wave couldn't push the score so high this time.

Nativity BVM saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was STEPHEN KARINCH, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Panther Valley hadn't done well against Pine Grove recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 14-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Panther Valley let Logan Fisher and Gavin Yuricheck run wild. Fisher scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Yuricheck went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Fisher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Penberth, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Panther Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Grove only posted an OBP of .409.

Nativity BVM's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Panther Valley, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Nativity BVM couldn't quite get it done against Panther Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Green Wave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
