Football Recap: Taconic Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Taconic extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost to the Holyoke Purple Knights on the road by a 40-22 margin. The Thunder lost against the Purple Knights in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 51-12 score last time.

As for Holyoke, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their seven-point performance the contest before.

Devin Velez had a dynamite game, throwing for 256 yards and six TDs on only 18 passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Holyoke's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise. A healthy portion of Velez's aerial production (160 yards to be exact) went to Georlee Aponte.

Coming up, Taconic will be playing at home against Lee/Lenox Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 4.5 points per game this season, so the Thunder's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Holyoke, they will challenge Hoosac Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
