Softball Game Preview: Collinsville Kahoks vs. Litchfield Purple Panthers

The Collinsville Kahoks will head out on the road to face off against the Litchfield Purple Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Collinsville came up short against Civic Memorial on Monday, falling 20-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Kahoks in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Collinsville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carsyn Moad, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Litchfield is still undefeated this season after their contest against Taylorville on Tuesday, but Taylorville came as close as anyone has to beating them. Litchfield came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Taylorville. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Purple Panthers have posted since April 13, 2024.

Lili Anne Readenour made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Litchfield pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Collinsville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
