Marcellus picks up 11th straight win at home

Recap: Marcellus Mustangs vs. Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms

The Marcellus Mustangs won the last time they faced the Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms, and things went their way on Friday too. Marcellus snuck past Syracuse Academy of Science with a 54-48 win. Given Marcellus' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Syracuse Academy of Science is ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Marcellus to victory were Tucker Burnett and Will Burnett. Burnett scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, while Burnett scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Meyer, who scored six points.

Marcellus pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.36 points. As for Syracuse Academy of Science, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Marcellus will face off against Utica Academy of Science at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Hopefully Utica Academy of Science focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Saturday. As for Syracuse Academy of Science, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Christian Brothers Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
