Soccer Game Preview: Lick-Wilmerding vs. San Domenico

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lick-Wilmerding take on the San Domenico at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday... San Domenico took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lick-Wilmerding, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Lick-Wilmerding beat Stuart Hall 3-1. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Knights are ranked 600th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, San Domenico was not quite Marin Academy's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 1-0. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

San Domenico's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Lick-Wilmerding, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season.

Lick-Wilmerding took their win against San Domenico in their previous meeting on January 14th by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lick-Wilmerding since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
