Basketball Game Preview: Erie Red Devils vs. West Elk Patriots

The Erie Red Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the West Elk Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Erie saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They fell 55-44 to Crest.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Quincy Brown, who went 6-for-14 en route to 14 points and six boards. Brown is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Parker Hughes was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, West Elk was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Humboldt.

Erie now has a losing record of 1-2. As for West Elk, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Erie skirted past West Elk 44-42 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Patriots' Maddex Moreno, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds.
