Norwalk gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed by the Montebello Oilers at home to the tune of 49-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lancers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Norwalk got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ezra Meuller out in front who rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Derek Sandoval was another key back, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Norwalk was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 461 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in August of 2023.

Montebello lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Louis Jimenez, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.

Norwalk will face off against Santa Fe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montebello, they will challenge Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Montebello is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
