Volleyball Recap: Evelin Guel Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Peoria Notre Dame

There's no place like home for Galesburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They skirted past the Peoria Notre Dame Irish 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Silver Streaks have posted since September 5, 2024.

Galesburg had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-23, 25-21.

Galesburg's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evelin Guel, who had 12 assists and six digs. That's the most assists Guel has posted since back in October of 2024. Grace Herchenroder was another key player, getting 17 digs and two assists.

Galesburg now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Peoria Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galesburg will take on Alleman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Silver Streaks their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they are taking a road trip to face off against Limestone at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Irish surely won't give up without a fight.
