Baseball Recap: Spring-Ford Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Spring-Ford's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boyertown Bears on Monday. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Spring-Ford got a good showing from Ethan Freed, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Freed has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Spring-Ford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Witmer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Spring-Ford is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9. As for Boyertown, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9.

Spring-Ford didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-1 loss against Phoenixville on the 7th. As for Boyertown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-1 defeat against Methacton on the 7th.
