Basketball Game Preview: First Academy Lions vs. St. Teresa's Catholic Crusaders

The First Academy Lions will head out on the road to challenge the St. Teresa's Catholic Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with ten straight losses, while St. Teresa's Catholic will come in with three straight victories.

Last Thursday, First Academy came up short against Appling Christian Academy and fell 54-45.

First Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Logan James, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Logan Steele, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, First Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 48 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, St. Teresa's Catholic got the win against Colquitt Christian Academy on Friday by a conclusive 61-40. With that win, the Crusaders brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.

St. Teresa's Catholic's win came from a few key players First Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dyland Rangel, who posted 19 points. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Michael Richard, who had 16 points.

First Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for St. Teresa's Catholic, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

First Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against St. Teresa's Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-51 victory.
