Softball Recap: Franklin Academy Takes a Loss

Franklin Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 14-3 to the Falls Lake Firebirds. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Firebirds from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Iliana Rodriguez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Paige Shriver, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Franklin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Falls Lake, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8.

Franklin Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-3 defeat against Vance Charter on the 9th. As for Falls Lake, they will face off against Cedar Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
