Recap: Western Christian Fighting Lancers vs. Cerritos Dons
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Western Christian Fighting Lancers can now relate to. They took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cerritos on Friday. Despite 141 more yards than Cerritos, Western Christian couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Western Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jared Doolittle, who threw for 421 yards and six touchdowns. Doolittle has been hot recently, having posted 300 or more passing yards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jj Hooper, who picked up 206 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Cerritos can attribute much of their success to Josh Park, who rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns. Justin Sagun was another major influence, as he rushed for 27 yards and ran in a TD.
Western Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Cerritos, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
Western Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cerritos will be playing at home against Coachella Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Coachella Valley's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
