League recap: Lincoln-Way North leads league with 14 wins since last week

Southwest Suburban - Red league recap: 5/22/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Lincoln-way North, which finished with 14 wins overall, good for best in the league. The Phoenix beat Lemont 16-6 and Marian Catholic 1-0.

Southwest Suburban - Red's top pitcher this week was Thornton's Ronnie Cross. He picked up one win and eight strikeouts.

The Wildcats boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Thornton, the league's stolen base leader this season with 115, added to its lead in that category with 14 more steals over the past week.

The Wildcats' De Andre Mahaffey led the league with six hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .316 and ranks fifth in the league with 18 hits.



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Cross, who turned in eight Ks for Thornton. He's first in the league with 50 total strikeouts.
