Softball Recap: Scott Comes Up Short

The Scott Skyhawks didn't have quite enough to beat the George Washington Patriots on Monday and fell 2-1. The Skyhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kambri Beard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Scott saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cambri Barker, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Scott's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for George Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Looking ahead, Scott will head out on the road to challenge Cocke County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for George Washington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
