Softball Recap: Blackfoot Takes a Loss

Blackfoot was the 6-4 winner over Rigby when they last played one another on Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Broncos fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 16-14 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Broncos have suffered since April 1st.

Brianna Reynolds put in work no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Sela Christiansen and Shea Staley did some serious damage despite the final result: Christiansen went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Staley went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Anna Hepworth was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Blackfoot's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Rigby, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Blackfoot will square off against Idaho Falls at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rigby, they will challenge Highland at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
