Football Recap: Cordova Comes Up Short

Cordova extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-7. They had to suffer through a 48-7 loss at the hands of the Grant Pacers. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 778th, while the Pacers are ranked 49th).

As for Grant, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points over those games.

Blake Nycum had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 352 yards and five touchdowns on perfect 10-for-10 passing. He is becoming a predictor of Grant's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). 89 of Nycum's passing yards were hauled in by Damarcus Brown, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Cordova does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grant, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Edison at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,019 yards in their previous games.
