Football Recap: McDonald County Takes a Loss

The home team had come away the winner the last five times McDonald County and Monett had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mustangs fell 50-40 to the Cubs on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 40-27 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Monett's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden Seitz led the charge by rushing for 144 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, while also picking up 62 receiving yards. Seitz's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Antoine Smith was another key back, gaining 108 total yards and three touchdowns.

McDonald County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Monett, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

McDonald County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-14 win against Aurora on the 3rd. As for Monett, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 58-20 victory against East Newton on the 3rd.
