League recap: Comer's hitting boosts Unionville-Sebewaing

Zach Comer was on fire this week, as he led Greater Thumb - West with a .421 average with three RBIs. Unionville-Sebewaing compiled a record of 1-2 in that time.

After a week in which it went 4-0, Reese jumped from 3579 to 3240 in the national rankings, the biggest increase in the league. The Rockets are currently sitting at No. 93 in the state of Michigan, thanks to an overall record of 19-3.

The Patriots' pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 26 hits and 15 walks, both of which led the league. On the season, Unionville-Sebewaing has allowed just 160 hits, while striking out 187 batters. Comer leads Unionville-Sebewaing with 72 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched.

Although Reese finished first in the league this week with 123 hits, the Patriots still sit atop the the league leaderboard with 271 total hits this season. With 22 hits this year Gunnar Bouvy leads the third-place squad, which finished with a 4-0 record this week.

Unionville-Sebewaing's Comer finished his week with eight hits, tops in the league. He is fourth in the league with 30 hits this year, and has a .291 batting average.



Brendan Ballard drove in four runners as Unionville-Sebewaing defeated Sandusky 14-7 on Thursday.
