Football Recap: Oxnard Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Oxnard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 26-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oak Park Eagles. The matchup was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Yellowjackets couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Oxnard still got an impressive performance from Gavin Liston, who rushed for 104 yards and one score on only 12 carries, and also threw for 127 yards on 11 of 27 attempts. Liston got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 65 yards. A healthy portion of Liston's aerial production (90 yards to be exact) went to Jayven Aranda.

Grayson Auzat was his usual excellent self, rushing for 82 yards and three TDs on only five carries, while also throwing for 185 yards and one touchdown for Oak Park. The Eagles' leading receiver Harrison Macht was Auzat's top target yet again, picking up 158 receiving yards and one score.

Oxnard's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Oak Park, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxnard will take on Moorpark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Musketeers' defense has only allowed 14.4 points per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Oak Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
