Softball Game Preview: Hartsville Red Foxes vs. Chesterfield Golden Rams

The Hartsville Red Foxes will take on the Chesterfield Golden Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hartsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.

Hartsville's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lower Richland as they made off with a 19-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Foxes, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Allie Bailey looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Hartsville got a massive performance out of Myah Harvey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave Harvey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaysha McCullough, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hartsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Chesterfield came up short against North Central on Tuesday and fell 4-1.

Hartsville's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chesterfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1.
