Basketball Recap: Southern Takes a Loss

Southern suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Broadneck Bruins and fell 54-13. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

La'Ren Watkins was Southern's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Watkins also led the team in rebounds with four.

Broadneck's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macie Mcnece, who posted 17 points. Mcnece's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Makayla Kropfelder was another key player, putting up ten points and seven boards.

Southern's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Broadneck, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Southern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-38 defeat against Glen Burnie on the 31st. Broadneck has also already played their next game, a 29-21 win against Severna Park on the 31st.
