Baseball Recap: Madera South Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Madera South proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Roosevelt Rough Riders 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Stallions have posted since March 28th.

Brendon Gustafson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on David Moles, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Angel Duenas also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win was the third in a row for Madera South, bringing their record up to 6-19-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11-1 record this season.
