Softball Recap: Delta Panthers vs. Hilltop Cadets
Saturday just wasn't the day for Delta's offense. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 16-0 walloping at the hands of the Hilltop Cadets on Saturday. Delta has not had much luck with Hilltop recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
For Hilltop's part, the result came thanks to Giada Rising's shutout, as she gave up just one hit and racked up nine Ks. Rising has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Hilltop let Brooklyn Kuszmaul and Kelsy Connolly loose on the outfield. Kuszmaul went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Connolly went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Jones, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Delta's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Hilltop, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
