Softball Recap: West Fork Comes Up Short

If West Fork was riding high fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Berryville last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Fork Tigers lost 11-3 to the Providence Academy Patriots on Monday. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in March of 2023.

Jolie Vaughn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Abby Hill, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.

The loss snapped West Fork's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Providence Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Fork will head out to take on Gentry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Fork has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Providence Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Greenland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
